Environment, Climate Change, and Sustainability Project and Programs Supported
The following are some of the key accomplishments in the context of climate change adaptation research and policy projects and programs handled as a Senior Scientist, Research Scientist, Program Officer, Research Associate and Project Assistant. Work experience certificates of proofs are enclosed as an annexure.
1.Development of the UAE’s National Adaptation Plan /NAP (Senior Climate Action Officer): Currently, supporting the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), Government of the UAE, through Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) as a Senior Climate Action (Adaptation) Officer in developing the UAE NAP (Budget: USD 3.2 M - Ongoing).
2.Institutional setup for Climate Change Research (Senior Scientist - Climate Change): Played a lead role in establishing the institutional setup to manage climate change projects and programmes as Climate Change Cross-Cutting Theme at MMSSRF. Developed five year strategic work plan for climate change research at MSSRF and reviewed 25years of climate change research as ACLAIM (Appraisal of Climate change Activities and Initiatives at MSSRF).
3.Adaptation Fund (Programme Officer - Climate Change): Played a significant role as a climate change Programme Officer (Govt.of Tamil Nadu, India) in preparing proposals and sought fund from National Adaptation fund for Climate Change. Assisted in preparation of project proposal for Adaptation Fund and Green Climate Fund together with the support of British Deputy High Commission and Department for International Development to implement TN-SAPCC.
4.Climate Change Knowledge Management System (Programme Officer - Climate Change): Devised a road map for Tamil Nadu State Climate Change Knowledge Management System” a central hub of Information, data and reports about climate change for the State of Tamil Nadu at the Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation Research, Chennai with the support of Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu through National Mission Strategic Knowledge on Climate Change, Government of India; (b) Played a lead role as a first climate change programme officer for the State of Tamil Nadu and established “Tamil Nadu State Climate Change Cell” for the Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, India; (c) Contributed and also Reviewed Tamil Nadu State Action Plan on Climate Change.
5.A Vista for Climate Change Adaptation Strategies (Research Associate - Climate Change): Instrumental in bringing up the reports “Climate change projection for Tamil Nadu: A vista for adaptation strategies” and “Addressing climate change adaptation strategies for Tamil Nadu Coast “ funded by the Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu, India. In addition, played a lead role in establishing “Adaptation Lab/Studio” an interdisciplinary research and policy studio at the Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation Research, Anna University, Chennai, India.
6.Climate Adaptive Mechanism (Project Assistant - Climate Change): Conducted research on urban coastal wetlands of Pallikaranai marshland through the lens of “Ramsar Convention of Wetlands” and contributed to “Pallikaranai Marshland Management Plan” of Department of Forest, Government of Tamil Nadu, India.
